Rina Burger worked for some thirty years as an advertising illustrator and has mastered many techniques, including pen drawing, watercolour, acrylic and oil.
What used to be commissioned work for companies — luxury tin packaging, birth, wedding and occasion cards, letterheads and much more — has now made way for her real passion: teaching and passing on knowledge. Having once started out in the community centres of the Zaan region, she has been teaching seventeenth-century oil painting technique to De Zaanse Salon Schilders in her own studio since 2001.
How you look makes what you see.
And now there is time again for ‘free work’ on a variety of themes, always with a little bird somewhere as her signature.
Earlier exhibitions took place at the casino in Zandvoort, the Staphorsius art gallery, the private museum Het Kattenkabinet in Amsterdam, and every three years together with De Zaanse Salon Schilders at Het Weefhuis in Zaandijk.
