I have worked in the cultural sector all my life.
Initially as a set designer in the theatre, later as a documentary filmmaker.
I am also much occupied with music (classical singing), which I perform regularly.
Alongside all this applied work I like to make autonomous work:
pastel drawings (oil pastel combined with soft pastel) on paper.
I live and work alternately in Amsterdam and in the Ooijpolder near Nijmegen.
In doing so I usually work from my subconscious, and often only realise afterwards what I have been working on.
On this website you can see works from the series Vanishing Light.
You could describe these works as abstract expressionist
‘landscapes of light’, in which we sometimes find ourselves just below the surface of the water.
